CFI, Trust Company Current DAF Program
The Islands Foundation (CFI) and the Sanibel Captiva Trust Company organized a community conversation, “a smart way to give: the donor advised funds and the Beneficent Foundation of the Islands”, on February 11 at the Sanibel Trust Company’s office.
The program was held in honor of the 50th anniversary of the city and celebrates the history of the island’s philanthropy. CFI is also celebrating a milestone this year after its parent organization, the good neighbor fund, was officialized in 2000 by island -led islanders.
Participants engaged in discussions of giving strategies, nonprofits and evolutionary role of charity foundations. The program was accountable for charity and, in particular, donor -advised funds (DAF).
Trust Company Sanibel President Jeff Muddell led the discussion, pointing out how DAFS helps donors maximize their impact while maintaining flexibility and often avoiding capital profits while selling a home, business or actions valued.
CFI executive director Dolly Farrell announced that the minimum to open a DAF with the Foundation will decrease to $ 10,000 this year in honor of the 25th anniversary of the good neighbor fund. Previously, the minimum was $ 25,000.
Moreover, the CFI introduced a new community influence fund, the Community Impact Council, which works similar to a DAF and allows individuals to collect their donations and collectively grant grants twice a year.
