Our sleeping experts have been testing mattresses, bedding and sleeping technology for years, dedicating thousands of hours to honor our craft of beds honestly and entirely of revision and sleep -related products. We have tested over 300 beds from dozens of brands such as Casper, Helix, nectar, purple, lees and much more.
Our bed testers have different weights and types of body, heights, genders and sleep preferences, allowing us to provide a comprehensive assessment of each mattress from many views. We take pride in our mattress testing methodology, which includes analysis of characteristics such as durability, feeling, temperature adjustment, movement insulation, skirt support and special features.
solidity
One of the main features we seek when choosing the best mattresses for side sleep is durability, which implies the amount of pressure relief it offers. During our testing process, our experts for different weights and body types take curves lying on the bed at each sleeping position to determine how well they will cradle our primary pressure points – mainly shoulders, hips and knees. When you lie on your side, the mattress should offer some “give” about these areas. If a mattress is too strong, it can push back to these pressure points and cause pain, pain and even numbness.
As I mentioned, durability is subjective and varies from person to person – the driving force behind our Smasher 9000 Mattress. With the mattress located on the platform, we activate the device, which suppresses its arm in the middle of the bed. Our corresponding software then provides the level of objective durability on a scale of 1 to 10, with being softer and 10 stronger.
We never recommend a mattress with a high durability for the side sleep. Sweet point for side sleep is usually around the soft average, give or get some, depending on your weight, body type and personal preference.
smelt
Feeling a mattress is another important element that we analyze and review. Influenced by the types of foams and coils used in its construction, the feeling of a bed is exactly what it sounds – how it feels when lying in it? Is it fiery and responsible? Is it easy to change positions? Or the dense memory foam matches your body and holds your shape for a while? Does the mattress have a gentle feeling of pillow plush, or is it more neutral? Are the windings or zoned support visible? We do our best to describe exactly what feels like lies in each bed to help you determine if it is appropriate for you without having to try them all on your own.
When possible, we remove the mattress cover and cut the opening of the fire sock to examine the layers inside.
In determining the best feeling for side sleep, we look for beds with a softer and more plush sensation that cradle your curves and offers a lot of pressure relief for your hips and shoulders.

Temperature
Each individual’s preferences, body type and even health conditions can affect how hot or cold a mattress feels. We have also found that mattress brands exaggerate the cooling skills of their beds. That is why we detail how hot or cool the mattresses sleep during our testing process so that you have a more accurate understanding of how you feel in it. Does the cute touched mattress feel frankly and gives a satisfying cold sensation for hot sleep? Or will it sleep more natural temperature? Do materials keep your body heat and keep you warmer?
Other external factors affect what the temperature of a bed feels for you, such as the bedroom environment, the bed you use and the pajamas where you sleep. At our mattress facility, we test the beds in rooms controlled by temperature without construction sheets and their materials and explain how they affect the overall temperature of the bed.
Insulation
Insulation of movement is a simple term for how well the movement of deadens mattresses across its surface. A bed with good motion isolation is essential for light sleep or those who share the mattress with a partner or pets. We test the insulation skills of moving one bed with a expert to lie in the bed while another rotates and changes positions. Does the person lying to the movement through the mattress, or is he delicate and less visible?
For the second method, we placed a glass of water on the edges, rolling straight and away to see if the glass falls or liquid fluid above. Typically, dense memory foam beds do the best in this category. The most responsible mattresses tend to have worse insulation of movement.
Skirting

Dillon Payne Teston Edge Support by lying and pressing down the edges.
The skirt support refers to the strength of the bed perimeter, another important factor to keep in mind if you sleep with a partner or pet or tend to sleep on the lips. Testing skirt support involves analyzing how well the mattress holds its shape and structure when we sit and lie on the perimeter. Does the cave have and gives the feeling we will roll, or is it super bold and supportive?
We also push down the edges with our fists to observe how much it compresses under pressure. Many mattress brands add reinforcements around the edges – whether wrapping or lighter foam – to improve the support of the edge. Having Solid Edge support helps to create a stable and durable sleeping surface throughout the mattress.
Special features
Mattress brands often offer beds with special features, such as covers with hot sleeping technology or specially zoning support for people with rear -sciatica. We always test and review these additional features to determine if they meet brand claims and inform you which type of sleep would benefit the most.
